WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY

The present Junior Women’s Water Polo World Championship, which takes place in Khanty-Mansiysk, is the eighth in succession. The gold medal winners of the previous seven tournaments were the national teams of Australia, the USA (both teams – two times), Canada, Greece and the Netherlands. It is the Australian national team that came to Khanty-Mansiysk as the reigning World champion, because the girls from the this country had won the last tournament, which was held in 2007 in Portugal.
For now all Women’s World Championships medals were earned by the representatives of eight countries - they are Russia, China, Hungary, Spain and those, who were the champions,. The team, which was titled at the Women’s World Championships in most cases, is the National team of Australia. They didn’t become the prize-winners only once in seven previous championships (the Australian girls have two gold medals, three silver and a bronze one to their credit).
