The sport holiday of the 8th junior women water polo championship in Khanty-Mansiysk was finished with the celebration in honour of winners.

     The solemn closing ceremony started with a concert programme «Champions for champions», which was prepared by the first awards holders of the international contests, by the artistic groups of the concert-hall «Ugra-Classic».

     According to the results of the final matches the national tem of Russia got the gold medal, the team of Netherlands – silver, the USA team – bronze.

     The best goalkeeper of the Championship is Michelle Slobbe (Netherlands). Dora Antal (Hungary) is the best scorer. Among the defensemen the strongest is Christina Tsoukala (Greece). Ekaterina Prokofyeva (Russia) got the title of the best forward.

     On the solemn ceremony the Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko mentioned that the championship, that was great and interesting, that brought pleasure to someone and sorrow to others, is finished. He thanked sportsmen, their coaches, organizers and fans for a splendid performance which took place in Khanty-Mansiysk and added new colors in the history of competitions. «We made some changes in already developed norms of the organization of the competitions on water polo which were borrowed from other kinds of sports, having a wide experience of their holding. I think that innovations can become a good tradition in water polo as well, - the Governor of Ugra has underlined. – The week of the competitions has flown by quickly. It was bright and intriguing, draw attention of a considerable number of fans that the overflowed tribunes of Ugra State University pool confirmed. Ugra people had an opportunity to see the future participants of the Olympic Games on water polo in Khanty-Mansiysk. I am sure that the tournament added some new names of athletes which will shine further on sports arena.

     The head of the region for memory of the first victory in the championship handed a special Cup to the winner - the Russian national team.
